Apple has sold 1.4 million iPhones
[Apple’s Q4 results](http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/22/apple-shipped-1-119-000-iphones-in-q4-2007/) The countdown to the first idiot suggesting these results suggest Apple is in trouble starts now…

Almost here
[Xbox360 game Mass Effect is finished](http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/22/mass-effect-is-done-and-you-still-cant-play-it/). It comes out November 20, so you should probably expect some interruption to blogging around then.

Election07: Masonic secret edition
*Debate wrapup*: Strong consensus (from the worm and commentators) that Rudd easily won the debate. Rudd has now called for a further debate including Costello. *Annoncements*: Liberals annonce [increased funding for cancer care for women ($41m)](http://liberal.org.au/about/documents/BetterCancerCareandSupportforWomen_000.pdf), [$174m for water saving measures](http://www.smh.com.au/news/federalelection2007environment/174m-for-water-saving-measures/2007/10/22/1192940959327.html). Also announced in the debate were some details of the emission trading scheme policy…

Pills as food coming soon
[Molecular Gastronomy supplies](http://www.lepicerie.com/catalog/category_288_FINE_FOODS_Molecular_Gastronomy_page_1.html). The idea, basically, is to make meals out of powders. Very strange, very intriguing.

Batman-onomics
[Batman defends Ludwig Von Mises](http://www.reason.com/news/show/30539.html%7C). Unfortunately I can’t find a copy online. I’d love to see it, if nothing else to see if the economics is right…

Reading on screen
[Every novel on the Booker prize short list may be made available electronically](http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/books/article2681255.ece). Interesting if it happens, but I suspect it’ll be loaded down with piracy protection.

Bringing your old fuses and lightbulbs together
[A lamp in the shape of a fuse](http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/furniture/13-amp-fuse-lamp-throws-out–a-cool-retro-vibe-for-the-ladies-312670.php). I can only think the thought process for this one started with ‘what else do I know that breaks easily?’.

Will they provide a 256gb card too?
[Hasselblad’s updated 39 megapixel camera](http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/18/hasselblads-39-megapixel-h3dii-39ms-dslr-brings-the-multi-shot/). As an aside, I just recently got a new 50mm lens for my 7 megapixel digital camera, and I can notice a huge improvement in quality just from that. So I hate to think how much you’d have to spend on a lens to actually use all of those megapixels…

Election07: Debatable edition
*Announcements*: ALP announces a [Increase in the child care tax rebate rate](http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2007/10/21/2065345.htm). Not much today, because of the great debate this evening. (Which I will *not* be watching).

Not for the squeamish
[This designer took ‘Cuckoo Clock’ too literally](http://watchismo.blogspot.com/2007/08/watchismo-times_29.html). Seriously, don’t look if you’re sensitive, it’s a bit unpleasant. Not gory, just vivid.
