Catching up (to The Greatest Gen podcast that is). Spoilers.
Given the level of ‘serial’ in this show this really didn’t feel too much like the second part of two-parter. But that’s a small quibble in what is a very enjoyable episode. The setup for the ‘sailing Protostar’ is efficient, and the sequence delivers on the promise. Even the ‘Dal learning to be a Captain’ plot is less annoying than usual. And the action is fun Good episode overall.
My only quibble is that some of the momentary editing is a bit janky – going straight from everyone on the hull to everyone inside for instance. Felt like some compromises had to be made in the animation.
(Very) quick hits:
-
Odd to do a recap like this in the middle of a two-parter. No budget for ‘previously on’ sequences?
-
The Beverley cameo is a bit low-calorie. It doesn’t really advance the plot or anyone’s understanding, it feels just like someone wanted a TNG star.
-
‘Once again recite the plan’ much…
-
‘What’s the matter’ joke about antimatter, sure. But how do you compress antimatter?

For someone who understands levers that is a bad design with the jib. Some levers and pulleys would have helped here.
