This season has a lot of Part IIs. Spoilers.
Based on Part 1 I was expecting a fair bit more of exposition. I was not expecting some of the most exciting (and harrowing) action sequence in all of Trek. The scenes of The Loom invading Voyager were incredible. From a meta perspective it suggests that we’re heading towards a reset, but in the moment it’s still incredible.
Plus I really am enjoying the Majel plot arc.
(Very) quick hits:
-
That was one of the most brutal red shirt deaths in the entire franchise of Trek. In a kids show.
-
Majel so far is the most interesting character this season. The main crew are a bit too ‘stuck’.
-
The phrasing of ‘What is it Zee, what’s the matter’ is the same tone I use talking to my cat.
-
Let’s add ‘The Matrix’ to the references list, with the creepy squid things destroying the ship.
-
The Voyager action sequence was incredible. Complete with some great Alien/Aliens references.
-
Yay, Chakotay pan flute…
949 down.
