Back to A+++ episode titles, with a call back to the TOS episode. Spoilers.
A good TOS-style setup and story, which makes the callback title very appropriate. The stakes never feel enormous, perhaps because the monster in the story is a little too tame – without seeing someone fall to it we don’t get a sense of real danger. But seeing Zero discover senses is a nice story, and they do a better job than most Trek in handling the objection to straying from the main mission.
In a lot of Trek we’d be starting from an assumption that we’ll be back to status quo by the end of the episode. But in this show it’s believable enough that we might be heading to a new version of Zero. I was still a bit surprised to see them stick with it – perhaps because the model didn’t feel like it meshed well with the others – but this show does like to shake things up.
Quick hits:
-
‘A bit of an accident’ – Zero, have you fallen and not gotten up? You sound like you should be in a PSA.
-
That’s a very big cockpit for such a crowded ship.
-
I think that was a great joke Jankam.
-
Can you have planetary rings on offset axes? I wouldn’t have thought so, but maybe it’s super tech.
-
Love the callback visors.
-
Calling it now – the cost is having to stay on the planet forever.
-
The writing on The Doctor is pitch perfect. Feels just lime he did in Voyager.
-
Called it, can’t leave the planet.
-
The visuals in this show are just so amazing.
