Trekathon 946: The Fast and the Curious (PRO)

OK, that’s an end to the run of great titles. Spoilers.

Sigh. The super intelligent computer that evolves beyond its original programming in a warped way. It’s an old cliche for Trek, and really nothing new or special is done with it here. Even the moral about ‘too much friendly competition’ seems a bit out of place given the other things in the episode.

It feels like a step backwards for Dal, and a bit of an out-of-character moment for Gwyn. Zero is the only one who gets much to do, and even then it goes from zero to a hundred too quickly (pun intended). Overall this just felt like it had some missing pieces and setup, the first time the 20 minute format has really held things back for me.

Quick hits:

  • Does Gwyn seriously have a crotch level chevron? Very distracting.

  • If Dal isn’t the Captain, who is?

  • I do like that the authors of this show do seem to actually enjoy Voyager’s lore and setting.

  • Something seems a bit off about the 3d model fro the Kazon. Too shiny?

  • So who exactly installed and maintains all of these floating rings? Seems like a lot of resources.

  • The setting here feels a lot like Revenge of the Sith.

946 down.
