A station on the edge of war needs a morale boost, and Jake and Nog are going to provide it.
A bit over [200 episodes ago](http://www.exasperatedcalculator.com/archives/2010/06/trekathon-270-progress-ds9/) there was a nice subplot with Jake and Nog trading around the station to make some profit. The main plot here is a subtle callback to that, with them chasing around the station to try and get the things they need.
(An aside: Klingon opera sounds pretty good, actually. I’d like some more. And the water reclamation joke was pretty good).
The most impressive element of the episode was the tone. The background of coming war has never felt more real than here. And the nice little tag at the end does more to make DS9 feel like a community than anything we’ve seen before.
