Trekathon 403: Threshold (VOY)

Tom Paris tries to break a warp barrier (which we’ve never heard of before).

Janeway and Paris ‘hyperevolve’. That’s worked well [before](http://www.exasperatedcalculator.com/archives/2012/03/trekathon-317-genesis-tng/), after all. And then they mate, which is way more information than anyone wanted. It’s an episode that could have been fun, but it’s played for gross and horror.

So – they invent a transwarp technology that has a nasty side-effect. But they’ve worked out an effective cure for that side-effect. So why is it never being used again? Seems like a pretty good way to get home to me.

(An aside: Janeway’s list of ‘record breakers’ didn’t include [Chuck Yeager](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Yeager)? Seriously, that’s just dumb).

403 down, 334 to go.
