Trekathon 400: Prototype (VOY)

B’Elanna becomes obsessed with a robot found floating in space.

For the most part a big ‘meh’. B’Elanna’s desire to help seems to come more out of ‘hey, look what I can do’ rather than any ethical connection. This issue has been done time and again by TNG, and so the only novel element here is ‘hey, maybe don’t help them out’ at the end.

I was really puzzled by the alien robot costume. It seemed many orders of magnitude away from the quality we expect these days (you can see an Adam’s apple moving at several points) – more like TOS quality levels. Given that this isn’t even a point in the episode, it was really weird.

400 down, 337 to go. Trek gets its fourth century on the board.
