Ah, here are the Ferengi, just one week late.
They don’t get much time to mess things up, at least. There’s a germ of a nice little unrequited love story here, with Picard trying hard to not fall in love with the perfect (and perfectly unavailable) woman. But it just doesn’t land, perhaps because we’re not used to thinking of the Captain having relationships like this on duty.
Perhaps it would have worked better if they’d forced together the Captain and the empath a bit more, and ditched some of the terrible scenes, such as the bar scene or the Riker scene, used to establish her nature. Oh well, I’m sure they’ll get around to a good romance story for Picard soon.
