This week I tried some experimental night photography. I still need to work on this a bit, but some of the results are promising.
Here’s Helen wandering in front of the camera (deliberately!) during a low light 30 second exposure:

A picture of the car, taken in pitch dark (with the key button pressed at the last second for effect):

Looking over the hills towards Gordon:

And a star cluster, pointed straight up:

Finally, I tried a little bit with the flash once I got home. Here’s a cool puzzle globe I have:

As always, see the full set for more.

Week 7 was taken outside the Old Bus Depot Markets in Kingston, Canberra:

Firstly, a picture of the apartment buildings just North of the markets. I always think it looks a little like Wall-E from this angle, although it’s more like a Dalek from other angles:

Next, the old power house building. Yes, I was playing with special effects for the sky:

A close up of the metal structure at the left of the building:

Someone with a place to be:

And a metal grate near the parking lot:

As always, you can find the full set on Flickr.

Week 6 takes us to Black Mountain Peninsula.

An interesting looking tree:

Some benches:

Australia’s Parliament House on the other side of the lake:

After that we moved on to Mt Ainslie.

Canberra Airport, which is quite close to the mountain:

And a railing to the lookup at the top:

As always, find the full set on Flickr.

Week 5 sees us travel to Cairns. No map this time, you’ll just have to Google for Cairns.
Most of the photos come from a fantastic trip we did with Wait-a-While, well worth it if you want to see the rainforest in more detail than most tours.
First, a mountain just South of Cairns. I have no idea what it’s called, I wasn’t paying enough attention:

A rainforest plant:

A duck:

More plants:

And finally, a panorama of Cairns:

As always, heaps more photos in the full set on Flickr.

For week 4 I went to Scrivener Dam, the dam that holds the water into the major lake in Canberra.

A view of the dam from the nearby carpark:

The road over the top of the dam:

Looking downstream:

And the bubbler at the carpark:

And finally, a view of Government House, which is a little way down the road from the dam:

As usual, the full set can be found on Flickr.

I’ve been a bit behind in posting photos to this blog. I’ve been taking them and putting them on Flickr, but not getting around to this bit. But here they are now!
