That’s right, I never wrote my review of Discovery Season 2. Overall I liked it, but I’m more excited about season 3. Details and spoilers below.
Again, I have to draw the lines for the seasons somewhere, even if you could watch this whole season in less time than a single episode of the main series.
I don’t have a lot to add – they’ve learnt from the first set of Short Treks, and have a better sense of the stories that work here. The stories are perhaps a bit less ambitious than the first go around, but that means that they ‘fit’ into the time they have far better. There’s also more experimentation, including animation, less use of dialog, and more outright comedy than Trek normally dares.
I’m putting this one slightly ahead of the first season of Short Treks, but there’s really not much in it. Well worth watching, especially given the low time investment.
That takes the rankings to:
The very best of Trek:
Strong performers:
Mixed bag:
Not good:
Really just awful:
The review of Star Trek: Picard episode 1 is coming soon, just need to type it…
