Trekathon 524: Living Witness (VOY)

The Doctor ends up in the middle of a dispute about what he did 700 years ago.

An interesting and brave narrative structure that only just works. I enjoyed the ‘here’s Voyager as villains’, although I felt that the picture was just a bit too much of a caricature to be credible – for instance, think about how a major museum would present Genghis Khan, even with his cultural image.

What I thought was better was that most of the concerns I had were addressed – sure, it’s ancient history. But it matters, and can you move forward without proper understanding of history? My only complaint is that the final debate – do we be honest, or not – wasn’t given enough time. It would’ve been good to make that more of the conflict in the episode.

524 down, 213 to go.
