Trekathon 207: Redemption (TNG)

And here’s where I came in. Back in the early 1990s (1992 or 1993, I think) I was watching TV late one night and this came on. I wasn’t much of a Star Trek fan at all, but kept watching because something about the introduction drew me in. And then it was a two-part episode, so I had to watch it next week. And so my regular watching of Star Trek began.

All that gives me a soft spot for this episode that makes me like it more than I think it really deserves. The Duras sisters are some good recurring villains, and they appear for the first time here. And I do enjoy a bit of Klingon politics. There’s some clunky foreshadowing, especially with the Romulans, but overall I still think this is a great episode.

207 down, 530 to go. This is, by the way, the 100th episode of The Next Generation. By the middle of the next season there will be more minutes of The Next Generation than all other Star Trek so far.
